Although Miami Dolphins legendary defender and ESPN NFL Analyst, Jason Taylor, is no longer chasing quarterbacks, he still expects to "smash" his opponents! On Monday, December 17th, Taylor hosted the 3Cinteractive JT's Ping-Pong Smash 9 - Presented by Publix, the original, celebrity, doubles table-tennis tournament at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Fla. Year after year, this event has proven to be one of Taylor's most popular events, with all proceeds benefiting the Jason Taylor Foundation.
This one-of-a-kind event once again paired community members with some of the Sunshine State's most recognizable personalities from the worlds of sports and entertainment in a round-robin style ping-pong tournament.
Among this year's all-star line-up was Jason and his wife, Katina, professional boxer and MMA fighter Kimbo Slice, former Miami Marlins star Jeff Conine, DJ Irie, Houston Astros second baseman Tyler Greene, as well as a host of current Miami Dolphins including Brian Hartline, Karlos Dansby, Dan Carpenter, Brandon Fields, Anthony Fasano and John Denney along with the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders.
Former Miami Dolphins Joe Rose, OJ McDuffie, Channing Crowder, Terry Kirby, Twan Russell, Troy Drayton and Jed Weaver also took part in this year's Smash! In the end, this year's winning duo was three-time JT's Ping-Pong Smash Champion Juan Ly and Adam Goldstein of Coral Gables. Ly and Goldstein outlasted Zebbie Lethridge and Dwight Rowe of Flanigan's Seafood Bar & Grill in a heated finals match.
The fun-filled, electric atmosphere also featured DJ Laz of DJ 106.7 FM, along with Power Parties DJs & Lighting filling the arena with today's hottest music, in addition to the Best Buy Fun Zone, where those in attendance enjoyed a Best Buy gaming station, hair cuts, interactive games and more! Jason Taylor Scholars from Take Stock in Children were also in attendance not only to enjoy the event but also to sell raffle tickets and raise funds and awareness for the JTF. At intermission, Weston based rapper Jake Miller took the stage and performed his latest hit "A Million Lives," with inspiration from the JTF's very own, Sydney Lister!
Prior to the action that evening, the Jason Taylor Foundation held its fifth-annual Ping-Pong Smash Kids Clinic - Presented by the Miami Dolphins. Nearly 100 deserving children had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the world's fastest sport from former Puerto Rican Junior National Table Tennis Champion and three-time JT's Ping-Pong Smash winner, Juan Ly.
Following the event, participants and celebrities joined the Taylor family at the Hooters Champions' Celebration featuring great food, a silent auction and loads of fun!
In addition to 3Cinteractive, Publix, Hooters and the Miami Dolphins, other supporters of the Smash included ASAM Financial Group, Best Buy of Davie, County Line Chiropractic Medical & Rehab Centers, Daszkal Bolton LLP, Discover Boating, Envy Motoring, Fastboats Marine Group, Flanigan's Seafood Bar & Grill, Gerlinde & Michael Photography, Global Wealth Management, Grounds Group, Inko Dada, Invicta Watch Company, Joe Rose, Killerspin, Kopelowitz Ostrow P.A., The Law Offices of Lawrence Zieper, Macken Realty, Big Dick's Muscle Cars, PopGraphicsUSA.com, Power Parties DJ's & Lighting, ProCamps, Saveology, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, Seminole Tribe of Florida, Sports Talk 790 AM/104.3 FM, Steven Douglas Associates and UB Chillin'.
